The Russell Brand Trial Recap!

Current Status: Day 3 – Last Updated 15/Oct/2026, 11:48 BST

Case Summary

The criminal case against comedian and actor Russell Brand stems from a joint 2023 media investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches, which published historic allegations of sexual misconduct. Following this, the Metropolitan Police initiated a formal investigation that led the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to authorize criminal charges. Brand ultimately faced a total of seven charges including three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault, involving six women over incidents alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2009. While Brand has consistently pleaded not guilty, denied any non-consensual activity, and asserted that his past relationships were entirely consensual, the case proceeded to trial at Southwark Crown Court in October 2026.
