The Love Triangle Murder Trial | NV vs. Devyn Michaels – Day 2 Recap!

Background of the case: Dubbed as the ‘Love Triangle murder trial’, the Devyn Michaels murder case gained national attention when Las Vegas mom had pleaded guilty and later broke down during the sentencing hearing and the plea was removed with prosecutors opting for trial. Devyn Michaels has been accused of the killing of her husband Johnathon Willette, after he was found at his mother’s home at Henderson County with his head decapitated. Both couple are understood to be in a contentious custody battle around the time of the murder which prosecutors allege is what drove her to commit the murder. Her defence team says, Devyn is not your culprit, his son Deviere, who was married to Devyn, thats your man and accused him of being behind the murder!

On day 2 of the trial, the state presented witnesses that explained what happened at the crime scene with the continuation of Stephanie Wilson, the crime scene analyst testimony finishing off by opining that the decapitation was post mortem. Detective Nickoleus Papacs testified to conducting the interviews, notably an interview with Devyn who detailed her relationship with Johnathon Willette and her relationship with his son Deviere Willette.

Devyn Michaels gave an account of what happened the last time she saw John alive before leaving the Paladura residence. Last witness for the day was Deviere Willette, the victim’s son testifying about his relationship with Nikki, aka Devyn Michaels and expressed that he would want to get a divorce after the trial is concluded; that there were numerous times he tried to leave the relationship and details what he was doing the night of the murder, including how he was drinking heavily on the night.
