Case Report
Factual background:
On January 24, 2023, 35-year-old former labor and delivery nurse Lindsay Clancy of Duxbury, Massachusetts, requested that her husband run errands to pick up dinner and medication. While he was away from the home, Clancy strangled their three children—5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan—in the basement using exercise bands before attempting suicide by jumping from a second-story window. Patrick Clancy returned home to find his wife severely injured in the yard and the children unresponsive in the basement; Cora and Dawson died that day, while Callan died three days later at Boston Children’s Hospital. Lindsay Clancy, who survived the fall but remains paralyzed from the waist down, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

MA v. Lindsay Clancy – Day 7 Trial Summary
On Day 7 of proceedings (August 5, 2026) in Commonwealth v. Lindsay Clancy, the prosecution presented five witnesses whose testimony spanned medical wound assessment, toxicology drug dynamics, DNA statistical analysis, and personal observations of Lindsay’s maternal state. Physician Assistant Eitan Negri testified that Lindsay Clancy suffered wrist lacerations requiring medical repair, while toxicologists Nicholas Roberts and Justin Brower confirmed that alcohol tests were negative and explained that the Narcan administered by emergency responders had no effect on the non-opioid psychiatric drugs detected in her system.
MSP Forensic Scientist Katarina Stashyn delivered DNA statistical profiles linking the children and Patrick Clancy to the exercise band found at the scene, as well as confirming that bloodstains outside the house matched Lindsay Clancy. Finally, former nanny Elaine Rossi described Lindsay as a “wonderful mom” who disclosed struggling with postpartum depression, severe sleep loss, and noticeable weight loss, but affirmed that up until her employment ended on December 8, 2022, she never observed unsafe behavior toward the children nor heard any mention of intrusive thoughts or self-harm.
