Background of the case: The case has drawn national attention not only for the homicide itself but also because Daisy Link became pregnant while in custody through an extraordinary scheme involving another inmate, despite never meeting him in person. Daisy Link’s case began as a tragic domestic dispute with her husband, Pedro Jimenez that ended in a fatal shooting. Both have them have supposedly had a toxic relationship with instances of domestic violence in their 9 years as a couple, sharing 2 kids.

On day 1, the state presented their evidence to show why they believe Daisy Link is responsible for the murder of Pedro Jimenez who died on 25th June 2022 with a gunshot wound to the thigh as established through the witnesses today. Based on evidence presented today, it is likely that Pedro was shot at a different location to where he was found, the alley way, and he had likely ran to the alleyway and died due to possibly losing a lot of blood. Testimonies from the respective police officers established that Daisy told the police officers she was looking for him and recognises that he had been shot. The police officers did not make an arrest when they were with her and she was only considered a potential witness.
